Geographical Information Systems Laboratory was created in September 2005 as a part of the Institute of Earth Sciences at the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin, Poland. The main focus is on Geographical Information Systems application in geographical research, as well as coordinating and running GIS and Information Technology classes.

The Lab is located in the Institute's main building, in rooms 117B-120B.

GIS Laboratory's research is concentrated on GIS application in geographical research and spatial planning. As a part of the Institute of Earth Sciences, the Laboratory takes part in researching various aspects of the environment of the Lublin Region. We cooperate with regional administration on deploying programmes of GIS application in environment protection, as well as preparing digital databases of environmental characteristics of the Lublin Region.

Head of the Laboratory is dr Leszek Gawrysiak.
